By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mark_Dawes]Mark Dawes

With so many external hard drives on the market to choose from, it starts to get overwhelming and daunting looking for one that best suits your needs. With that in mind, the only way to find what your looking for is to research:

Why do we need to back up:

Many computers only come with a certain amount of storage space in the system. If you save large amounts of pictures and download a lot of programs and music to your computer, you may be running out of space on your hard drive. Instead of deleting your downloads and files to create more room, external hard drives are a great solution to create more  gigabytes for your computer. These drives are small, easy to transport, and are compatible with most computers. There is a portable or desktop drive for every type of Mac, PC, Laptop and even older computers. With storage capacities now available in terabytes as well as gigabytes, you'll never worry about hard drive size again. Most modern day external hard drives can be plugged directly into most USB ports.

An internal unit which is over loaded with files may slow down your computer. If the computer is slowing down, items from the computer can be moved to the secondary drive to quicken the processing speed of the computer. Moving the extra files to the external hard drive will free up room on the computer, allowing you to use your computer without the delay that comes with overflowing files. When you need those files that have been moved to the external hard drive, it can simply be plugged back into the USB port.

Another great aspect about this type of computer hardware is that they cannot crash like computers can. If you have very important files which are saved on your computer for work or school, moving them to an external storage facility can save those important files in the instance of a computer crash. Keeping them in an external hard drive keeps them safe and secured, and away from the risk of losing them.

Which is the best external hard drive:

There are various amounts of storage space available on external hard drives. Some, like the Lacie are available with 160gb of storage space, and another version of the Lacie is available with 1tb of storage space. They also come with various amounts of storage capacities depending on how much extra storage space your computer needs. If the computer needs only a small amount more of storage space, a drive with a small amount of storage space such as a Simpletech portable external hard drive which holds 160gb will hold just enough. If your computer is packed with media and needs a lot more storage space, a Western Digital 2tb desktop drive with more space will hold everything that the computer does not have space for. Other makes of these hard drives include... Toshiba, Verbatim, Western Digital, Edge, HP, Fantom, CMS, Maxtor, Seagate, Iomega, Buffalo and Buslink Media.

A description of a few terabyte (tb) or greater external hard disk drives from major manufacturers that are ideal for Apple / Mac users. These drives have become surprisingly affordable and practical recently, and will guarantee you a very long lifespan of healthy storage space.External Terabyte (TB) Hard Drives Ideal For Apple-Mac Users - Often Selling Under $150
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Dalvan]Michael Dalvan

External hard drives, either desktop or portable, are becoming an almost necessary component for home computing. Now that digital photos, songs, videos, and other data-intensive files are becoming standard, a large amount of storage is a must. A recent and wonderful development is the affordability of Terabyte (TB) hard drives that hold 1,000 Gigabytes (GB) of data.

While most external hard drives can be used either for PC or Mac, they must be formatted correctly, and are often pre-formatted for PC or require a special setup. A few manufactureres have created terabyte harddrives that are ideal for Macs- these drives are not only pre-formatted for Mac use, but have stylish designs that are meant to compliment the look of Mac computers.

The Iomega Ultramax is ideal for Mac users, though it is compatible for PCs as well. It has an attractive, modern design that is made to compliment newer Mac systems. The "dual" version has a Firewire 400 and USB 2.0 interface, while "quadruple" has eSATA, Firewire 800, Firewire 400 and USB.

Western Digital Mac Edition comes pre-formatted to work with Mac computers. Simply plug it in and it is ready to go. It connects via USB 2.0 only (no firewire or eSATA,) and comes in versions up to 2TB in size. This drive also automatically turns itself on or off with your computer.

Western Digital MyBook Studio Edition is pre-formatted for Mac computers and has a design style to compliment them. It is able to connect via USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and the 3Gb/s eSATA interface, and is marketed is WDs solution for demanding, creative professions like video editing. It also features the heat, power and energy saving features of the home edition as well as the power on/off sync.

If you need more information about hard drives such as the interfaces (USB, Firewire, etc), cache and more, there is a lot of info on terabyte-drives.com. You can also find these drives for $150 or less. [http://www.terabyte-drives.com]Terabyte Drives Under $150

Article explains the differences of Cyber Monday Vs. Black Friday, two of the biggest shopping days of the year. Also, the article explains how to get some great shopping deals without standing in line at 5am on 'Black Friday'. Written with a touch of humor and goodwill.Black Friday vs Cyber Monday
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kyle_James]Kyle James

It was Thanksgiving evening, the turkey was almost done and I was looking at all the 'Black Friday' ads in my local newspaper. Not exactly what the pilgrims and Indians had in mind but there I was none the less. Best Buy's ad caught my eye as they were having a special on a Western Digital External Hard Drive, 250 GB, for only $69.99. These things often sell for over $175 so I was impressed. I needed one to not only back up my web site, Rather-Be-Shopping.com, but I could also use it for my families digital pictures and my music collection. Best Buy opened at 5 a.m. on Friday morning and I decided I would try to get there when it opened and make my move on this external hard drive.

5 A.M. - What Was I Thinking??

So I get there a little after 5 a.m. and what did I find but a line all the way around the Best Buy store of customers just waiting to get in. I thought this is crazy, I got out of bed in the dark for this? I contemplated getting in line for a total of 10 seconds, but my warm bed at home was so inviting that I fled the scene for some more sleep!

Moral Of This Story?

You may be asking what is the moral of this story? Well, it was an interesting learning experience because what I found out was that many of the people waiting to get into Best Buy were only going to turn around and sell their merchandise on ebay. I did a search on ebay right after 'Black Friday' and much to my surprise there were a ton of my Western Digital hard drives up for auction. And the good news is they were only selling for around $85 due to the increased supply. So essentially I could buy my hard drive for $15 more than what Best Buy was selling it for and I had to stand in line for a total of ZERO seconds. Now I do have to pay for shipping which is around $10, but it is still a lot less than the average retail price. Try this technique next year; you may be as surprised as I was.

What Is ‘Cyber Monday’?

Also, the Monday after Thanksgiving is now referred to as 'Cyber Monday' and is said to be one of the biggest online shopping days of the year as folks go back to work and use their "Free Time" to do some shopping on their computer. What I discovered was online retailers really picking up on this 'Cyber Monday' idea and have some amazing deals on their web site for one day only. Best Buy.com, for example had some great online coupons and deals for flat screen TV’s and digital cameras. Also, I noticed that Lane Bryant.com had a 30% off coupon, a couple rare JCPenney coupons good for free shipping or 15% off, and there was an American Eagle Outfitters coupon good for 15% off, all of which were only available on Cyber Monday. I say next year sleep in on Thanksgiving weekend and do your shopping online in your PJ's with a cup of coffee. Not only will you avoid the long lines and crowded parking lots but you may be amazed by the savings and coupons online retailers are handing out.

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mac_Jones]Mac Jones

Here we take a look at the Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive which is an external 2.5" unit, model number WDME3200TE. This is the rather subtle Midnight Black edition but if you're a little more adventurous they come in several colours including Red, White, Pink and a rather striking Intense Blue. The WD Passport range also ships in other capacities including 160GB, 250GB and a huge 500GB version. They will soon even be releasing a 1TB drive in the Passport Essential product line. I would recommend getting the biggest size you can afford as it will cost you a lot more in the future if you run out of room and need another drive instead of wishing you'd bought a slightly bigger capacity. You can often find that the largest size demands a premium, but there's often not a lot between the remaining sized drives.

Looks
The passport essential has a sleek and glossy casing which can unfortunately scratch easily and also attract dust and the dreaded fingerprints. Despite this the Western Digital portable drive looks great. You could always buy a separate case to add further protection for your drive, especially if you plan on taking it out and about with you.

In Use
Setup of the WD My Passport Essential 320GB USB drive is really easy, just plug it in, start your PC and you are up and running. There are some useful utilities factory installed on the hard disk but they are not required in order for you to use the drive.

The utilities that Western Digital include with the passport essential consist of backup software, synchronisation software and encryption software that keeps your data secure in the event it falls into the wrong hands.

The my passport essential 320GB USB drive's transfer speeds are competitive for a 2.5 inch portable hard drive but are certainly slower than mains powered MyBook Essential drives from the Western Digital product range. The passport uses the USB 2 interface so is comparable in terms of transfer speeds to its 2.5" external drive competition. The new USB3 interface isn't supported on this model.

Reliability
WD have a very good reputation for reliability and although all hard drives can fail you probably won't get a more reliable external hard drive. The warranty is two years which is a little mean but it's not the one year that many manufacturers provide these days. Despite this you should always make sure you have a second copy of any data you store on a hard disk drive.

Positive
Lots of size options to suit your requirements
USB powered requires no external power adaptor
Small unit easily fits in a shirt pocket
Compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems
Software included with package
Turns on and off with your computer
Simple setup

Negative
Slower transfer speeds compared to 3.5 inch external drives
Glossy casing attracts fingerprints, scratches and dust
No firewire, eSATA or USB 3.0 support.

The western digital [http://www.my-passport-essential-320gb-usb.com]my passport essential 320gb usb external hard drive range is a great storage solution as a back up device or as a portable device. As always, is pays to read up on each drive you're looking at and to find the best price for the external hard drive you require. Thanks for reading my article.

The Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10 32 Inch TV - A Review

The Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10 is one of the latest models in Panasonic's latest range of LCD televisions screens. However, it also happens to be amongst the most expensive screens of its size. Is it really worth the extra money? It is important to realise what you get for your money.

As far as size is concerned, this is a midrange screen with a 32 inch diagonal. For many people, this is the optimum size you want in your living room. While many LCD screens are 40 inches or more, these are simply too large for many situations. However, just because you are going to go for a smaller model doesn't mean to say you need to sacrifice quality.

While the screen might appear plain from the outside, it might seem rather simple, there is somewhat more to the screen than meets the eye. It has extremely detailed and crisp images and although the screen does not actually offer the highest resolution to playback the latest in a high definition content of its native resolution, the screen still does it particularly well.

With vibrant colours and advanced processing techniques for pictures, this screen makes anything look good. Regardless of whether you want to play the very latest in high definition content, you just want to watch DVDs or even just the television, you will find that this screen will not disappoint.

It's built in audio system is fairly plain and simple but this really doesn't matter. The fact is, if you are investing in a screen of this sort of size and money, then you are probably into watching movies or playing video games on it. In that case, a 5. 1 surround sound system is an absolute must and regardless of what screen you have, it is always advisable to buy additional surround sound speakers system, rendering the built in speakers completely obsolete anyway.

The various perks of the screen of the TX-L32S10 include an automatic colour management system and the ability to automatically change the colours and brightness of the screen depending on the amount of light and the colour of the light in your room. Although many LCD screens do that these days, this one manages to do it extremely well, optimising it on the fly for just about any situation.

In addition to this feature, it also comes with a built in the SD slot. This allows you to put your camera memory card into it and view the pictures directly. A very useful extra that a lot of screens don't have, you will certainly find this is a huge bonus if you own a digital camera and want to be able to view files straight from the screen itself.

As for connectivity, the Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10 has all the features that you would expect for the price. Including the ability to connect a computer, the digital camera and your stereo system, it is ready for just about anything. However, the SD card slot is certainly one thing that makes it a good choice over many other models.

Panasonic once again showcased its expertise in producing sophisticated digital cameras by introducing the Panasonic Digital Camera DMC-F27K. It is one of the models of Panasonic Lumix DMC-F27 series. Digital cameras included in this series have several main features in common such as 12x zoom lens and the OIS or the optical image stabilizer technology developed by Panasonic for shake-free images. Like other Panasonic OIS cameras, DMC F27K has 2 image stabilization modes: first is always on and the other one is automatically activated when you press the shutter button.

Its lens has an aperture of f/2.8 to f/3.3. It typically covers the 35-mm focal range. It is equipped with 2 assist options: first is the enlargement of image borders and the other is the enlargement of the entire screen for more accurate image focusing. The DMC F27K has also multiple AF modes which include the standard AF and the high-speed AF that freezes the screen in a few seconds.

You will also appreciate its high end features such as its manual exposure controls which have shutter speeds of 8 seconds to 1/2000 second or 60 seconds to 1/200o second in manual mode. There are also user setting adjustments that can be made with this digital camera such as white balance, saturation adjustments, sharpness, and contrast.

It has also the USB cable accessory for transferring JPEG and TIFF image formats to your personal computer. It has also various aspect ratios, which are 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3, which are all available in the digital cameras movie mode. The first aspect ratio has an effective resolution of 848x480.

It is the perfect digital camera for you. Take the experience of catching memorable moments with Panasonic DMC F27K.

Panasonic's new TC P50V10 is the 50" 1080p (FullHD) Plasma HDTV that has the closest chance of dethroning the current reigning champ with a black level that is equal if not better than the plasma HDTV in question, but also combines advanced features that the previous champ never had. Here is a quick review of this plasma HDTV.

Design: Featuring Panasonic's one-glass-sheet design the Panasonic TC P50V10 is a 50" plasma HDTV that looks great. The panel measures in at an ultra thin 3.3 inches that combined with the swivel capable stand makes for a very impressive yet functional plasma HDTV.

Specifications: The Panasonic TC P50V10 brings great new features to the table including a 96Hz refresh rate from a 1080/24p source, Digital Cinema Color and THX Display Certification for enhanced settings and colors in THX mode. The remote feels great with its backlit keys while connection-wise the plasma HDTV offers three HDMI inputs on the back and one HDMI input on the back. It also comes with 2 component-video inputs, an RF input for antenna or cable and options for optical digital audio and analog stereo. The side panel also offers an SD card slot along with a second AV input with composite video as well as a VGA port for PC connections up to a maximum resolution of 1366x768. An Ethernet port is also available.

Features & Performance: Utilizing the Ethernet port, the Panasonic TC P50V10 can connect to the Internet via the VieraCast function for the usual YouTube and Picasa and access to Amazon's Video on Demand. Thankfully, you can preview first before paying for it and offers a huge array of HD video choice as an alternative to satellite or cable TV. While the V10 has less picture enhancements it does offer more advanced functions including various modes, color temperature control and aspect ratio options as well as a "burn-in" pixel orbiter. Performance-wise the plasma HDTV offers the blackest blacks to date with very accurate color reproduction and while the THX mode does offer easy automatic enhancement the Custom mode is precise enough to get exactly what you want as well. Overall, the Panasonic TC P50V10 is definitely worth the extra big bucks as its great quality blacks and reproduction values make it the closest thing to the reigning champ as possible while its extra features and connectivity offer even more functions.

Compare Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 and DMC-ZS3 - Which Compact Digital Camera Meets Your Needs

Panasonic has done it again. They continue to dominate the digital compact camera zoom market. The release of two very similar cameras at the same time begs a comparison. Why two? What's the difference?Compare Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 and DMC-ZS3 - Which Compact Digital Camera Meets Your Needs
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Wayne_Rasku]Wayne Rasku

Panasonic created a winner in the point and shoot "zoom" category with the Lumix DMC-TZ5. Just about one year later, they have given us the Lumix DMC-ZS1 and the DMC-ZS3. (In the European market they are known as the TZ6 and TZ7 respectively. Am I alone in thinking that continuing the "TZ" brand would make more logical sense? And why is there no ZS2?)

This article will compare the Lumix ZS1 and ZS3.

Beginning with the basic specifications that are identical in both cameras:

10.1 Megapixels

12x Zoom Range (25-300mm)

Optical Image Stabilization

80-6400 ISO Range

27 Scene Modes with Intelligent Auto

Image Quality rated highest among Digital Compacts with similar features (DPReview.com)The features that are different (ZS1 vs ZS3):

LCD - 2.7" (230k resolution) vs 3.0" (460k)

Image Sensor - 1/2.5" vs 1/2.33"

Video - 848x480 30fps video w/mono sound vs 720p 60fps video w/stereo soundThese 3 features add just over $100 to the price tag for the ZS3. Yet, in spite of the extra $$$, the Lumix ZS3 is outselling its ZS1 cousin by a large margin. Why??

The reason is that most digital compact camera users are now quite comfortable with using their "point and shoot" camera for their basic video needs. And the difference in this feature is significant when you consider many folks are now viewing on big screen HD televisions.

The other big difference is the LCD screen. While 0.3" does not seem that big of a deal, when added to double the pixel resolution (230,000 vs 460,000), the view quality of the live view and playback is significant.

With respect to image quality and printing images, in a comparison test against other super zoom cameras, the ZS1 and ZS3 were dual winners at DPReview.com.

The final word comes from those who have actually purchased the camera for personal use. After all, the consumer has the last word in satisfaction.

Checking the user reviews at DPReview.com and Amazon.com, both cameras rated highly - at least 4.16 out of 5. In fact, at Amazon, the Lumix ZS1 rated at an impressive 4.67 (out of 5).

As you make your digital camera buying decision, keep the Panasonic Lumix ZS1 and ZS3 in mind. And do not forget about the [http://www.digital-photographic-resources.com/cameras/mid-range-ps.html]Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, which has the same features as the more expensive ZS3 with respect to video and image quality (there have been some upgrades to the way video is recorded in the ZS3 that take up less storage space and give the user an option as to the recording mode, but the TZ5 video is comparable to its newer sibling). Picking up the TZ5 would produce a savings of more than $150.
